Tuesday, July 5, 2011 Catnip junkies

Oh beautiful sun!! Another day in paradise. Yes, yes, yes. Got up this morn and made a big pot of coffee for my walk around the garden later. When Melissa got up we poured our coffee and went to count the goldfish in the small pond. Yesterday we could only count 7 or 8. We have new neighbors and they have 4 cats and they meander over here to hunt. If you were a cat you would love it here. Huge garden that must seem to them like Africa with lots to stalk and places to lie. We have a very strong feeling that one or more are coming over in the dead of night and having a fish dinner. We started with 25 on Saturday so where did they go?? Melissa is worried about leaving the rest in there because we don't have enough cover on the pond to protect them. Today there seems to be at least 7 so maybe we didn't lose any last night. We know it's not Tequila. Yesterday when she got a little close to the pond, the water had her very cautiously stepping on the rocks but she wasn't getting too near. She would NEVER put her paw in water. The bath she had the other night was enough to convince me that water and Tequila don't mix. She was actually howling like she was being tortured in some contraption that could only be imagined. I don't remember hearing anything quite like it. So we have ruled her out as the culprit.
After we came in Melissa sat on the side patio with a lemonade and her computer doing some work while both the cats were out there keeping her company. They both found the catnip and after getting into it for 5 minutes this was the end result. They are both high as kites and I expect soon they will have the munchies. So until tomorrow I bid you good bye and remember.....this is your cat on drugs.
