Saturday, August 13, 2011 Bargain hunters.

I awoke to Hank opening the bedroom door to peek in to see if I was awake yet. He had been up since 5:00 a.m. Yep, dawn. I don't get it. It was around 7:00am  when I heard the door open. He says, "There is a garage sale across the road." Okay, now you have my attention. I dragged myself out of bed and took a look out the window to make sure he wasn't just using a ploy to get me up. Yes, there it was. I got dressed and even skipped my coffee as we headed over to see what bargains awaited. We bought a beautiful solid wood dresser with lots of drawers, fourty bucks. Some other knick knacks like pie plates and casserole dishes for 50 cents each. Monica will get the pie plates. A beautiful battenburg tablecloth for two bucks. We came home and now we were in the bargain hunting mode so decided to go to Abbotsford and do all the second hand stores. We needed end tables and some lights for the wall in the Cottage small bedroom. We found the end tables. Picked up some other neat stuff and leisurely drove home down some back roads and through Yarrow. We spotted an ice cream stand called Mighty Moose ice cream. We stopped and ordered two one scoop in waffle cones. Mmmmm....delish. Good thing we didn't order the double scoop. It was a great day out. Our gladiolus just started blooming. We haven't planted them in years but this year decided to try them again. Neither one of us are fans of plants that you have to dig up but we made exceptions this once. We also bought some dahlias and they have been blooming for a few weeks. I'm so glad we planted them. This gladioli is on our back patio. Pretty isn't it? So until tomorrow I bid you good bye.
